Last night we had to reboot all our Linux servers for critical security updates to be applied universally. Unfortunately once the servers had rebooted this very site, our own presence as well as free blogs service, was knocked offline by our automated anti-abuse system. Both Martin and Myself have been in touch with our techies to figure out what has been the issue, but we still haven’t got to the bottom of the situation.
Please accept our apologies for any blog accesses reporting Forbidden while we work to rectify the problem. We have a working theory that our scheduled “Cron” may have been misbehaving, and we have disabled some of the automated commands for the new beta service “BlogRepeat”.
We will be going through the Cron code in question to determine if there is an issue with resource usage in this subsystem. We are also aware that in previous datacenter reboots some clients have had their services disabled by the very same resource monitor that has disabled our free blogs service this time around.
