WordPress MU is dead – Long live WordPress

Anyone following the current WordPress development will know that WordPress 3.0 is just around the corner but may not know that WordPress MU (Multi User – the version IND-Web.com uses to host our FREE blogs) will no longer be a separate extension to the WordPress core files.

WordPress and WordPress MU will become fused together permanently in matrimonial bliss with Multi User becoming Multi Site functionality activated within a standard WordPress install.

We currently have a test site setup to ensure our upgrading process will go seamlessly without errors for our FREE Blog users and so far things appear to be running very smoothly.

If you would like to checkout what your Blog will be like under the new WordPress 3.0, Beta 2, then please contact us using our Customer Support ticketing system and we can set you up.

Stanley Kubrick

Apart from a few cosmetic changes to the dashboard, WordPress now has a new default theme and keeping in tradition of Kubrick, the new theme is called ‘Twenty Ten’. It features customisable background images, customisable menu’s, customisable header images and 6 Widget areas.

For more information on who Kubrick was, please see Wikipedia – Stanley Kubrick (and no, he did not design either of the themes – but is still an inspiration to us all)!
